I keep hearing this theory that the housing crisis will sort itself out as Zoomers and Millennials  inherit their parents houses... and I'm just not sure that's going to be generally true.

I think it's more likely that in most cases, those houses will be sold to pay for assisted living, end of life services and medical costs.

Ah!   I haven't read it but I did see the interviews he was doing about how hard it is for blue states to build infrastructure.... which I think is kind of related (but obviously it's important to find balance between speedy progress and reckless progress). 

I think maybe in Denmark and Singapore the government builds all the housing and it's seen far less as an investment... I'm not too knowledgeable on this.

Ezra Klein talks about this in Abundance. Lending institutions and the government treating housing as an investment has led to a lot of societal problems because it distorts the natural supply and demand of housing.
