Our mayor invited me to a meeting to discuss Blue Zone certification for the town. I said I believe it’d be a waste of money and time that only benefits the certifying body. Our town has a deficit to fix first.

Perhaps I’m judging harshly. Does anyone here know about this? Or live in a “Blue Zone Community®”?

Agree it's a waste of money.

If I remember correctly I believe there was a study that showed Blue Zones weren't really a thing... people weren't dramatically healthy or living longer, there was just more fraud (ie, people claiming benefits for those that had died).

Like many certifications, it feels well intentioned but not well executed in every instance.
