Carry a drink and tell them you’re going to refill or get another, actually do it, and then go back and tell them it was lovely chatting and need to talk to a few more people before you go. A lot of times that can actually be true. Can also offer to swap contacts to help tie a bow to the convo (and just in case you never know down the road…)

It’s the going back to wrap up the convo that leaves them with a good impression of you actually sounding sincere and not just bored of them even if that’s the case
