Really torn up about octopus. I know... super intelligent (I've studied them and watched *most* of the documentaries). 

But, they are delicious. What do I do?

That would work! But then what about the slippery slope? Pigs are pretty intelligent, from what I’ve read in peer-reviewed studies. There are plenty of similar dilemmas elsewhere if we look hard enough.

Yeah the miserable lives of commercially grown animals is a big hairball of a problem that seems unsolvable even as lots of folks are working on solving it. Helping the ocean recover from overharvesting is a similar hairball problem... but helping octopus at least on an individual level not a hard problem to solve. Always hard to be the party pooper ofc... no one at that restaurant would thank you for suggesting they change the menu to omit octopus.

Pigs are objectively smarter than most dog breeds and suffer tremendously for human consumption. But it is absolutely a slippery slope. I'm vegetarian, and even eating cheese is problematic, especially from large factory farms
 Same thing with eggs where male chicks get literally thrown into a shredder alive. I'm so ready for lab grown meats and better plant based alternatives.
