it’s a fairly consistent finding but due to weather it varies year by year. here’s 2022 as an example: 2022 EU heat deaths (~61,700): https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37429922/ 2022 U.S. firearm deaths (~48,000): https://www.cdc.gov/firearm-violence/data-research/facts-stats/index.html also worth keeping in mind the population size difference between the U.S. and EU as defined by WHO, the latter is ~2.3x larger. here’s 2023 as another data point, quite a bit closer but still surprising: 2023 EU heat deaths (~47,700): https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-024-03186-1 2023 U.S. firearm deaths (~46,700): https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/injury.htm
