If you could speak English, Chinese and Spanish then you could basically talk to 50% of the people on Earth No better 3 language combo

Never thought about it that way! I’ve been diligent about learning Spanish over the past few months and plan to continue living in Spanish-speaking countries for the next year. After that, I might cross the pacific to South East Asia; I’m unsure which language to learn next. Maybe Chinese!

What tools are you using to learn Spanish? Curious if there's any good AI tools to learn a new language, particularly around having an AI conversation partner who knows both english and spanish to help you learn and converse with in both languages?

Duolingo is surprisingly useful for bite sized lessons (and for spending an hour or two a day practicing!). It’s fun and pretty high quality. I like to ask chatGPT to be a conversational partner, specifying my fluency level and what I’d like to practice in conversation. And then there’s no substitute for going out in the wild and trying to talk to people!
