Stages of analytics dashboarding tool proficiency: - Novice: Use built-in dashboards and data. - Journeyman: Build custom dashboards using their dashboard builder and define basic metrics and slices from existing data. - Master: Modify the dashboard descriptor directly since the builder is too limiting and emit new events to power new metrics and slices. - Grandmaster: Build your own dashboard container with custom layout and graphs. Pull data from multiple data sources and build your own data pipelines as needed. At Google I reached the Grandmaster level for the internal data tools. I'm starting to get close to the Master level on DataDog.
