Everyone in Greece uses Viber as their primary messaging/ calling app. It’s weird how the popularity of such apps is regional like this.

I think it's more of a viral product growth: I have viber, you are my friend, I invite you, etc. Feature-wise it's almost the same as e.g. Telegram or Whatsapp.
