Emergent Tokyo by Jorge Almazán - You don’t need to be a Japanophile or a SimCity nerd to enjoy this book on Tokyo’s development. Part history, part anthropology, it offers an astute introduction to how Tokyo has evolved - and where it’s headed. Even if you’re already familiar with the city, you’ll feel the need to revisit each area highlighted in the book. The maps and zoning schematics are works of art. There are some obvious analogies to crypto as well, particularly in the tension between grassroots, commune-style growth and top-down redevelopment by corporate behemoths.
