People react to life’s events in different ways. Let’s talk about that for a moment… Life is a master of surprises just like a teacher who knows exactly which part of the lesson is most difficult and chooses to test us from there. Life does the same— it surprises us with challenges we never saw coming. But it’s through those very tests that we discover how much we’ve truly learned. Pain that doesn’t destroy us often makes us stronger though that strength sometimes comes at the cost of things we deeply love. Great sorrow demands a greater soul. And that’s the story of many of us who’ve faced countless challenges in life. In 2019, Luis Enrique, then coach of the Spanish national football team, lost his 9-year-old daughter, Xana, to bone cancer. Xana had a beautiful, loving bond with her father always by his side during championships and victories. Losing her could have broken him. Just three months later, at his first press conference, he said: “Life goes on, and now I cherish each moment more than ever.” He turned deep sorrow into a deeper strength. Loss is something we can’t escape. For many reasons, we separate from the people and things we love and death may be the hardest separation of all. But what helps us move forward is the belief that life goes on… even after our greatest heartbreaks. We can still live with the beautiful memories even if they never come again. Let’s treasure the remaining pages of our life’s story…
