Are you envisioning the eventual  appearance of "super-hubs" that may be interested on storing longer spans of history? Or is the plan to make the protocol have all the hubs equal?

I'm a designer and programmer, currently building Plaula, a workspace for teachers.

you could write older data to an archive and keep it around in a "read only" format, but the trust guarantees around that would be different.
