I think about this a lot. I think some kind of farewell tour or merch item / album that can be purchased with the tokens and then burnt would be the best way to go. Acquire what you can of the supply before any announcement & maybe freeze trading (if this is possible!) to stop people trying to tout the tokens etc.

Eternal obligation is a weird new product that NFTs enable creators to sell - I wonder if anything else has ever done the same

I think something a lot of artists overlooked with the NFT boom in the last bull was that buyers felt they needed to have continued utility for the token / project and artists don't usually feel the need to keep thinking about past projects and always move onto the next one. Will be interesting to see what changes now.
