a real @zinger quote that lives rent free in my mind (paraphrased): "I used to look at things and think 'oh that's cringe.' But then when I really think about it, it's actually cringe that *I* think it's cringe - like that person is just being themselves, which is probably the coolest, least cringe thing you can be because you're just being your authentic self. And then I think about how there's actually nothing more cringe than me seeing someone be themselves, and just writing them off because they're not like me, or they're doing something I wouldn't do. *That* is actually super cringe."

When you reach a certain age this becomes more and more the default. You start wanting everyone to win, and stop trying to be cooler than thou via condescension. Prob related to self confidence growing as we become assured in our self image and less reliant on external signals.
