Baver-Els Antigons bonfire won first prize at Alicante Fogueres. — The artist, Pere Baenas, called it “Vanity” and it’s all about poking fun at how obsessed we are with appearances these days—really clever and spot on. Tonight they’re actually burning it in this crazy fireworks show (the “Cremà”). If you’re around, you’ve got to check it out—it’s honestly one of the coolest things in Alicante. Plus, a lot of these bonfires have little hidden messages that explain the ideas and jokes behind them, so keep an eye out before they all go up in flames!
