Another Bristlecone Pine for Sunday. It was totally silent up there on this high altitude windy ridge. These trees are very interesting in how they have adapted to thrive in harsh environments: high altitude, very cold, windy and very dry.

It's at 11,700 feet, which is technically above the usual tree line in Colorado by 200 feet. So right at the edge where any tree would even grow. It kind of didn't feel so great to drive up that high from 5,500 feet in one day.
