Hot take - A lot of people think that people who discover a cure for cancer get killed by big pharma. This isn't true - the fact is that most of the money in pharma is spent chasing versus innovating. So, a lot of promising research never makes it to the clinic and dies before it is ever really given a chance.

I am a Pharmacist and currently work for Bayer Pharma, I understand that the pharmaceutical industry invests heavily in research and development, with billions of dollars spent each year on finding new treatments, including cancer. The idea that big pharma will eliminate those who discover a cure for cancer is a misconception. In fact, most big pharma companies are focused on accelerating the process of bringing discoveries from the lab to the market to help patients. However, I agree that not all promising research is translated into clinical applications, often due to scientific, regulatory or financial challenges, not bad intentions. I have worked for many big pharma companies such as GSK, Merck... and I see them optimizing this process to bring more solutions to patients. Personal opinion, thanks!
