The Comet is a short film / music video created for Wait and Hope Syncretismo Art Residency Mexico City Fall 2025 cohort exploring the story of humanity and comets. I chose the comet as the subject of my project because I've always loved staring at space and dreaming. A comet is one thing almost every culture has looked up at and felt the same dread. I wanted to see if thru the lens of syncretism I could help turn that ancient warning into wonder. Right now, comets (even a rare interstellar visitor) are streaking thru our solar system, stirring the same old fears. That synchronicity while being in a residency about syncretism seemed pretty hard to ignore. By weaving science, lore, myth, memory, and energy with my art processes mixing traditional, glitch, and AI work, I was able to craft a short film that ruminates on the question: What if the same light that once unified us in fear could now unify us in hope? This is what came through. This is The Comet. --- I coined the work on @zora like my first short "The Dance of The Skeletons". I will also be dropping poster variations for it on different chains linking back to the coined Zora video to make it a crosschain project: https://zora.co/coin/base:0xfadbe7b1f5417010a263bbba44fa2e4106c83ef0?referrer=0x642149265624fb6af736524a09ffbe1718f077a5 In addition to the digital poster release, I will be releasing the comet song for distro Dec 12th to all major offchain music distros in conjuction with the start of the residency exhibition here in CDMX. I just finished the final presentation of The Comet for the Syncretismo digital art residency. Iβm so grateful for it all and look forward to everyone coming to Mexico City for the events and exhibitions in a couple weeks. I also look forward to being an alumni now and sitting in on future residencies. It is crazy to think we all just out here shaping the future of art, tech, and education. Discourse of difficult topics is what artists should facilitate. My biggest take away is syncretism doesnβt mean homogeny. That we donβt have to all see the same way or even agree but a little respect for each othersβ lived experiences and cultures and basic human rights can go a long way towards a future of less violence and suffering and more living and prosperity for all. If we are all the universe observing itself, diverse perspectives is then the desired natural order, and diversity of thought a divine expression. π€
