Two ways to make number go up for a crypto asset:

1. Attention
2. Usage

Attention is necessary for usage; usage not necessary for attention.

But if you get usage, you have a chance to generate ongoing waves of attention. Usage with retention gives you the chance at a “flywheel”.

Not all attention is created equal. Attention because of price is a fickle. Converting that to usage is hard.

usage is detrimental for attention, if usage is shoehorned.

also clanker similarly is first -useful- as an interface, and then becomes a meme thanks to it. Then growth kicks in by virtue of flywheel of being a launchpad. But would clanker meme been a thing without utility (deploying from the feed) first? probably not.

imho clanker greatest strength was the new interface. What made it different from all other launchpads prior to it. Certainly not -the clanker- meme which is nice, but an addon imho

yeah i guess hype if anything was the no VC's, airdrop for initial users, what made the flywheel go.

on the tech side, it is the first decentralized perps proposal so i do think it is category defininig on its own right, but you're right that tech doesn't bring attention anyways
