So…. Standard Tomatoes you buy at the store were engineered to survive rough transport. They have thick skins and (unfortunately) a bland taste. If you expand anywhere outside store bought to heirloom or homegrown. Generally you can get a much better flavor profile and mouth feel.

Right but most tomatoes you eat at a restaurant (unless high end) or out of season are still bad. Smaller ones do better. An heirloom in-season tomato is a revelation. 95% are not that.

Less for you and more for some of the replies. Clearly some people who have never eaten a good tomato and are missing out. Distance between the 5% and the 95% for tomatoes is probably one of the biggest of ag products.
