Elon doesn't have that much power over "tech"

I didn’t say blind followers of Elon. The narrative he represents is larger. There’s an “SV theory of the world” that’s bigger than Elon and predates him, that’s effectively on trial here. The other side is the Trump-committed maga narrative that’s bigger than Trump. There’s early H1b skirmish signaled that. We have here a larger proxy battle between two narratives.

I think that's a gross oversimplification based on what I'm seeing in the group chats today. I don't think most powerful in SV are blind followers of Elon or Trump. They are more pragmatic than that.

The big guns of faang will go their own way, but since this battle will be negative sum, I think they’ll just try to keep their heads down and go passive. Unpredictability of this level is worse than outright hostility for big business.

Biden admin was “anti tech” on paper but I’m guessing they’d be happy to go back to that, when Lina Khan was their nemesis, rather than Trump’s clown car economists.
