I’m a proud gay married man, and I believe deeply in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. But if I’m honest, I’ve met people who oppose parts of that fight—not out of hate, but because they’re trying to live with integrity according to their faith. Some of them wrestle with these issues quietly, sincerely, and with a sense of moral responsibility that I respect, even if I strongly disagree. Meanwhile, I’ve also seen people on my side be quick to label or mock without trying to understand. I’ll always stand for equality—but I’ve learned not to assume moral superiority just because someone disagrees with me.

Seems like replies are not getting any distro

They get distribution, but way less than top-level casts.

It’s also a holiday weekend.

When you reply to a post that reply should appear at the top of the feeds of people who follow you. Otherwise what’s the point of following someone except to view their original posts?

Even in instagram reels the for you algorithm favors reels liked and commented on by the people I follow amd bumps such replies in the algorithm

We stopped doing that two years ago. Twitter doesn’t do that either on their primary feed. It results in lower overall engagement. We have run many A/B tests.

Twitter is optimized for a larger user base with more diversified interests. 

Farcaster should focus on engagement at the niche level and help users get more engagement on their replies

How would you measure what’s successful?

a group of users interested in bringing this feature back did an analysis on how removing this feature made conversations less diverse on Farcaster

tl;dr removing a following feed with reply bumping dropped the likelihood of your reply getting a subsequent response by >50%

recasts don't show up in the following feed either @betashop.eth but I appreciate the sentiment

It’s really hard! And I know you and your team are world class and all over this. 

My emotional reaction was that it felt sad to not get engagements on thoughtful replies without quote casting about it. It make me not want to reply anymore which is counter to it being a social app. 

From a data / measuring perspective perhaps it’s measuring engagement by/with users who are driving the discourse on the platform. Twitter did this very well in the early growth days when celebrities were onboarding.
