Increasing the number of people Farcaster is reaching without having solved retention (which is a function of supply of interesting and entertaining content) is a recipe for wasting money and time.

I've never understood this argument, but you make it often: 1. It's a waste of time and money to draw new people to Farcaster until retention improves 2. Retention is a function of having good content 3. Therefore, let's not draw anyone new to Farcaster. If we buy your assertion in premise 2, that retention is a function of good content, then how do you get more good content without onboarding new creators? Yes you can squeeze existing users for more content, but don't you also need a denser network of interesting content creators, too.

just an idea but syncing contacts from other platforms / nfts sold to __ wallets so its easier for artists to find their collectors / followers and follow them easily could be a game changer for new users looking to grow faster :)

Isn't one function of the other?? More people onboard to FC, more content in the feed.

2. Good content is driven by serious Creators. This is why I continue to recommend Farcaster supporting C2PA. Respecting creators chain of title and copyrights could be a game changer.

Thoughts on interest-based friends being the hook rather than entertaining content? That's what keeps me and many others coming back, feels like there could be an unlock by leaning into making friends (underserved since FB imo) rather than attracting the best content (lot of competition)

This is a fair point. Marketing consists of product, price, promotion, and placement. The 4ps. The OP seems to be referring promotion, and you addressed it. I would hazard to say the vast majority of the time, please speak about marketing, what they really mean is promotion, and you’re rebutting against that. Your organization /appears/ to be divided by functional groups. If you had someone in marketing, they’d be tasked with gathering insights, treating the data, and working with product on addressing. Retention falls under that. I’d also add that retention is typically a result of fulfilling needs. With marketing, they can position (which does not necessarily mean outreach and promote) Warpcast/Farcaster in taking control of the narrative driving users and aligning it to what the product/service is.

imho the content's form is the marketing, and max retention is aesthetically no different than ritualistic behavior. there's something to be said about facilitating forms of ritualism like "wassailing" and leveraging everything possible out of that for synthesizing interesting content. farwalks already manifested. how long until roving GoPro yappers on unlonely? how long until "change my mind" campus incursions? not saying this is worth the bandwidth to entertain at this precise moment, but idk, seems like a bit of chicken & egg, along w/ cost savings of picking what can be crowdsourced.

Maybe but maybe not. Warpcast hasn't done anything onboarding new users, it's the devs/builders who did it.
