This guy committed fraud and possibly cost startups hundreds of thousands of dollars, on top of it reduced trust within the industry, gave Indian devs a bad name, gave fuel to racists in the industry etc and here he is doing what is essentially a victory lap. He will come out of this richer and the industry really need to introspect about this.

Take a look at this suggestion for example, it is a serious suggestion and I bet someone will try to build that. Building something that vets people specifically based on nationality is racist (and possibly illegal) but because of this it will likely start happening. Pretty much accepted wisdom among immigrant communities that when one of us does something wrong so publicly, it makes it harder for the rest of us.

Steal this idea:
- Background check for remote Indian devs
- Call it Soham AI
- Combine it with marketplaces for hiring developers (or sell as API to these companies)

Background checks are built-in to the popular HR SaaS software like Rippling. Feels like the pertinent issue here are the companies (bad processes, bad management), not the one-off.

I can promise you if any startup is dumb enough to discriminate against Indian engineers, there will many other startups that would be happy to hire them.
