Anyone knows where should I start if I want to create a client just for a specific channel in Farcaster? Is that possible?

Farcaster.vote uses a bot to send notifications about new polls for eligible users (who can choose to receive these alerts). 

However, this could result in hundreds of casts for a single poll. Would it be possible to do the same with Programmable Direct Casts? Are there any limitations?
