how hard would it be to duplicate the most essential 10% of farcaster the app without the long tail of details and make a separate app fully focused on video so as not to have to reconcile clash between people who like text based feed (current) and sensible prioritization of video-based feed for growth

Prioritization, not difficulty. Solve for the default. Don’t go on side quests. Especially if you’re pre-pmf

I would instsntly download video first app built on farcaster by merkle team I would continue to use current app an absurd amount daily And my top 3 social apps might include 2 farcaster clients when all said and done - fc, vidfc, x I might also be more likely to invite friends to vidfc as a fresh app experience especially if invite flow is prioritized I like most others it sounds like am just not used to doing it here despite general desire to help grow fc Could accomplish one of largest milestones for social protocol to have more than 1 dominant app (tho Coinbase wallet or others might accomplish this soon as well) Also opens new arena for trying different things and experimenting where you may be less willing to do so here for good reason imo So for those reasons feels like more than a side quest to me but also not sure what “solve for the default” means so may be missing part of your point

If you can't make one app that hits product-market fit, then you shouldn't be making a second app.

I see what you’re saying. But what if you change the word app to startup? If you can’t make one startup that hits product market fit, you shouldn’t start a second startup. Then a lot of founders would get stuck with their first startup, which is often not the big one. I don’t think Farcaster the app is like a first startup that should be moved on from by any means. It’s more like a football team drafting a 2nd round QB while continuing to develop the 3rd year guy who is showing promise but may or may not be able to take you to a Super Bowl

If you're not confident enough to "burn the boats" on an entirely new app, not worth building one.
