Tipping really is the last thing FC should have added. It makes a lot of sense for a social network. But timing is important. Right now it might create social debt because you know the people you tip. Tipping only makes sense when there are a lot of anons tipping their heroes to show some love.

i understand what you're saying. fc currently feels like a bunch of people who hang out together and pay for a round of beer each. and even though there are some who just ride along and always manoeuvre out of paying, you still like to hang out with them and don't care about it. i kind of like this version of tipping. more community, less extremity

If the majority of the people feel that way, then I am happy because then it would be a good feature. I just doubt that that’s the case, I feel people might feel pressured to pay for the beer because they got some beer and this could lead to people leaving the party they would have enjoyed with all these rounds. But maybe my base assumption about how people perceive tipping is wrong In any case the tipping limit of 1 is good for now (but will be lifted in the future to allow creators to make a living by receiving higher tips as well) and I hope they stick to that for some time.

1) not sure if majority people feel this way, but i'd bet most tip "their own", expecting some reciprocity (not necessarily tips) 2) a bit of pressure (and game theory, however subconscious) is present in real life too and i think it's what makes it good β€” i'd argue that this is beneficial for social interactions as you try to empathise with others and thus form deeper connections 3) i hate small talk, i'd prefer people insulting me and my family to commenting on the weather

Honestly, I personally don’t expect shid from people. I’ve been in this space long enough to learn that, dare I say, most are self-serving arseholes, whether by choice or due to circumstances. When I finally come across decent folk, to me it’s akin to hitting a jackpot. Like I said earlier, even in our fleeting conversations, you guys give me far more than you realise. And surely there have to be others experiencing this space in same way. While some ponder on game theory, others are here to show they exist, and perhaps learn a thing or two in the process.
