if all you care about here is the leaderboard, you're gonna have a bad time it's never been (only) about quality of words you put in your casts (the same sentence hits different from different people). it's all about (transitive) PoW — and that's a good thing fwiw that's why anoncasting, in its current form, is almost entirely uninteresting

I made a snarky silly comment about this once on how only KOLs get read/reply attention from the top typically *and* that a better feedback system (channel) would be an idea, of which that post got a comment about me wasting an opportunity to make a meaningful reply. … so then I posted the collection of meaningful replies I made over the past months that were seemingly missed (1 was UX/UI which appeared to actually have been implemented) yet even the well-placed slice of humble pie got ignored further suggesting to me it still is a KOL/DAU focus at the top. Until they achieve their prize we’re all being given a sandbox with a subtle “Marketing Narrative” we must fit to be bigger than curated KOL “cabal” pool. I’ve been around enough to understand and expect it but it leaves the machine of the protocol feeling a bit starved for humanity once you pull back the curtain on the wizards. Low floor, high ceiling.

Now this isn’t a bad thing per se (don’t mind my yap) because those last words are key. Low floor. High ceiling. This means that anyone has a fair shot to not just be someone, but also to be a part of deciding what a rank or engagement rate means. If leaderboard position is all that matters to you then this won’t help you either way. I’d love to wind up top cabal, I’d happily be the replyguy statistic busting outlier proving myself and others wrong. Or right. But what’s even more important is the accounts I’m noticing rank around me, above that threshold, and where I fall when I derank a tier or two. Data, engagement, and “social graph” metrics are never binary charts with a single purpose in observation (grow/decline). Geoff’s delves into data are a great example/approach with this. There’s a bit of “first is the worst second is the best” that works here and that’s powerful stuff.

tldr; There’s clearly favoritism and curating, that’s literally every “platform” for a reason, but if the leaderboard objectively doesn’t mean everything on an app, then a leaderboard number/tier isn’t indicative of qualities outside “core product narrative”. I’ll put my ramble back in the bag, brain said “framedl dev post!” and I was compelled out of respect for your work to thought dump many a word here. 😂
