now reading Enemy of All Mankind by Steven Johnson, which, surprisingly, has a lot of interesting lessons for building an onchain future

If you like pirates, David Graeber's Pirate Enlightenment is a great (short) book. Tldr stories of pirate utopias, which had some limited basis in fact, helped fuel the development of enlightenment ideals like democracy. Some funny anecdotrs in there too, like some pirates who nearly got a treaty with France and Russia by pretending to be representatives from a far flung kingdom.
