i need to acquire a solid consumer (maybe consumer plusβ’) grade 3d printer any recommendations? (brands and/or specific models) is PLA still the material to go with? i don't need a large build volume. parts don't need to handle high stress. i'll be doing mostly R&D/prototyping and low-volume fab. my prior experience was intensive but about 10 years ago (mostly Makerbots using PLA)

My friend just bought this one and loves it. He bought the kit and self-assembly took like 15 hours so pre-assembled might be worth the extra $$ https://www.prusa3d.com/product/prusa-core-one-kit/

hmm i might be willing to do the assembly just to thoroughly learn how all the mechanics are designed π€

that was his rationale too. heβs glad he went that route but heβs also got a super mechanical mind and enjoys that type of assembly. if you end up getting one and want to chat w/ him lmkβ¦would be happy to make the intro
