i got a small sound system and just started spinning publicly, without permission, in March (SXSW here in Austin) i got discovered by a prominent talent booker/manager while playing an underground rave in Austin shortly thereafter (at like 4:30 in the morning lol) he loved my demos outright, and now we are business partners; i'm helping him produce and promote events and am potentially producing music for some of the labels he works with (all house and techno) background to all of this is 7 years of producing dance music and 3 years of DJing, so i'm definitely not new to it, just never done it professionally before

my music is way better than i thought lol my "friends" were kinda shitty and never encouraged me at all really. it's a common story among artists (was recently talking to @maxximillian about this exact thing)

✨🙌 Yes! It was a real eye-opener to see how little support we received even in terms of the general enthusiasm we’d show for any friends who were excited about something that mattered to them. Until I chatted with @downshift.eth, I thought it was just happening to me! It’s such an outrageous thing when it happens it’s hard to process at first. But once I saw it was just garden variety jealousy I picked up my pieces and re-directed my attention. Sharing with the wrong people can be life-threatening, even when it’s just music. Always get a thirty-third opinion. 😩
