curious what people think. in the context of testimony preceding the Iraq War, concerning the imminent and disproven threat of WMDs, and the following conspiracy of the Plame affair... was American consent for war manufactured?

I think it effectively was—though I’d say it was more that our dissent was suppressed in a manufactured way Propaganda gives people already inclined to believe a thing an excuse to do so—and at the time in America it wasn’t hard to get people to root for military action Dissenters being painted as un-American enabled those who already agreed with war reflexively to roll right over them in terms of enabling the powers of the day to pursue their ends with the cover of such apparent consent
