Amazing drone show in China. This is implicitly a military demonstration of the capacity for drone swarm attacks:

Turning a drone swarm like this into an offensive weapon isn't really trivial. There's a lot of work to strap meaningful payloads to them, and to make them adaptable rather than using fully pre-programmed displays. Secure comms for drone swarms is also very much an unsolved problem. I think there's enough sinophobia going around without stoking fears like this 😅 A ton of the work Chinese researchers put into drones, robotics, and AI is open source, and helps all of humanity, which is awesome, and should be encouraged. Public displays like this empower everyone. It's the private drone displays that I'm worried about. Warlords with drones is a scary AF concept, no matter whose interests you think the warlords are aligned with.

to be clear I don't mind it, I think that countries can and should develop miltiary capacities for drone warfare (and hopefuly not have to use them). I'm reading about this subject a lot atm so maybe biased towards viewing things in those terms
