it's incredible-& scary-that Tron now rivals Ethereum on usage.

a lot of that is organic, consumer use from people using stablecoins to escape inflation.

easy to take it for granted here in the US, but everywhere else, people love USD

i was in Turkey two weeks ago. Istanbul is full of shops that will take your Lira (inflation this year: 58%) and send you USDT on Tron

this is a big risk. Terra, at it's peak, was 14% of total crypto TVL. i'm not saying Tron is the same thing, but chains owned by one guy are no good.

all of this is latent potential, spring-loaded.

delivering on that promise--shipping great products that outcompete tradfi & the bad parts of crypto--is going to be an ecosystem-wide, herculean effort.

+ funny epilogue. those crypto exchange shops all have flashing LED signs. they alternate between Tether and ... the big orange Bitcoin logo, the international symbol for "crypto"

the great news is that Ethereum is rapidly (and, so far, sneakily) becoming great.

AA/4337, rollups, and 4844 landing soon. transactions are about to cost a few cents and settle in ~1 second.

this could burn so many people and hurt crypto for decades when it (likely) goes bad. we haven't learned anything.
