tldr: this is a gamechanging design for rollups > on the surface, it's optimistic. transactions are accepted as long as nobody disputes them, and there's 7 days to dispute > under the surface, it's zk. *once* someone disputes, then (and only then) is a zk-proof required to prove an invalid transaction. the dishonest party incurs the cost. effectively, megaeth is getting the best of both worlds. you have the advantage of optimistic rollups' fast speed and low cost for normal transactions, and the advantage of zk-rollups' fast speed and low cost for disputes. latency is, of course, megaeth's calling card, and this is what keeps things running fast for all the real-time apps built on megaeth like gte, noise, avon, hop, legend, euphoria, etc all of this is possible thanks to risc zero, and a reminder that while most of this space has written off zk, it's quickly becoming a much better alternative as proving costs come down. https://x.com/megaeth_labs/status/1948030099665666446?s=46

spent the last year on ct arguing that L1 tokens should be valued as currencies of a digital nation state i got very little engagement because 1) everyone was focused on REV, narrative, and ultrasound money as metrics, and 2) the twitter algorithm sucks was about to admit defeat when i saw this today holy shit

i know this is for "besides david" so i'm the person who shouldn't chime in lol for what it's worth, i've worked with around 50 chains at this point. ink is pretty close to top. base is #50. this is just my own experience and glad others have fared much better. people ended up making $9k on the ink contest too fwiw
