It boggles my mind why anyone would willingly choose to write apps in this language in 2025.

I don’t want to think about rendering cycles or where I’m calling functions from.

I just want to write JavaScript.

You’re telling me if I want to conditionally render stuff that relies on state from a Provider, I have to break out the entire subtree into a `useMemo` expression to prevent the Provider from resetting its state whenever an unrelated component randomly decides to re-render??

what’re you building that made you select react over svelte? if that’s the case

or why was that decision made / what was lacking and hard to do w svelte? i can imagine quite a few things but still curious

The client has a massive existing React / Next.js codebase and wants me to add some new features.

They are (understandably) reluctant to switch to something new because it’ll take a lot of time and resources to migrate and retrain their existing developers.
