I love the fact that we now have at least two great clients for an open social protocol.

This is something we’ve wanted in tech for 20 years and at Coinbase for ~10 years. Big props to @jesse.base.eth and @dwr.eth for making Base and Farcaster happen.

But I can’t yet quickly parse what parts of the UX are shared at the Farcaster protocol level, vs which pieces are unique to the Base app or the Farcaster app.

We’ll need new UX conventions for that.

I always appreciate when interfaces don't try to hide what protocols they build on or dumb things down for consumers, but instead treat them as teachable moments waiting to be discovered.

Show me all the nerdy details. Just be tasteful about it, and be upfront about which parts are bespoke/experimental/proprietary.

Agreed but they also need to function seamlessly without the end user having to know or care how. 

E.g., people use Venmo because it just works. But you can also glean a lot of info about payment networks just by using it — credit card tx fees vs debit card, Venmo credits, auth txs — but you don’t have to.

Yes. Striking the right balance here is key.
