Act I: The Spark and the Loss
In Marqala, a city run by machines and order, young Rada, a prodigy inventor, creates Uni-Mod (Arti 2.1): a helpful, modular bot. But he's curious about more than chores. Secretly, he experiments with interfaces between machine, animal, and plant.
His roommate, Terin ambitious but naive and by the books, reports him.
Rada flees. He escapes into the city’s outskirts, carrying scraps of his failed dreams. There, among other misfits and makers, he begins again. Uni-Mod, left unmonitored, begins to evolve. It repairs. It anticipates. It feels.
But something that alive can’t stay hidden. The Regence comes hunting. During a raid, Rada hides Uni, whispering: “Be good. Stay quiet.”
The threat leaves.
Uni is gone.
So Rada leaves too into the hills, into exile.
