i miss the old frames they were truly special – limited in the way they render, 4 buttons, two aspect ratios. they all felt pretty natural – UIs were common – same buttons, same inputs. they felt like a part of the network. remember frames v2 style guidelines? nobody does. surely branding has to be put. but bro, when it's completely different to farcaster, it really feels like an iframe. "lol it's just a website in a website". nearly no magic in it. frames also disappeared from my feed almost completely. probably because i don't engage with them at all. it also feels that since the implementation boundaries were dropped, the expectation has risen a lot as well. when I saw the DOOM in a frame (made by @cassie iirc), my jaw dropped. when I saw games @undefined was developing, my jaw dropped. now though? i don't feel it. at all. boundaries forced people to put 150% of creativity. surely UX wasn't great. but IT FELT SPECIAL. frames v2 are awesome for financial mini-apps. there's value in connecting my fc wallet to apps and click faster. frames v1 were awesome for 1-step entertainment. i'd like to see if having embedded mini-apps can make it any different, having them using FC UI kit. i don't want this "portal" experience. i'm too lazy to click, spend my time connecting the wallet and then being disappointed from the frame. it makes me click less times further.

They were neat but usage dropped off pretty fast. Too limited and too ephemeral for daily use cases The frames that had ongoing usage were better suited for mini apps.

feels to me that search for the middle ground to make them feel just a bit more ephemeral (votes i.e.) in specific cases and more fc native (fc ui) might be worth it. how can one make "community notes" from X here on FC with the same UX?

you can already get pretty close with share extension + mini app but if you want a UX level of X (i.e. richly inteactive and good looking in feed rendering component) we'd have to integrate it directly into our product

what if every cast would have some "land" to be "rentable"? i.e. There is a "Community Notes" mini-app. I give it access for my cast UI space. It can then mount itself under the cast whenever it wants. (self-attaching mini-apps with data-rich preview?) i.e. There is a "Noice" mini-app. It mounts under every cast and shows how much tips were distributed through that cast. (iirc there were chrome extensions for moxie and degen that did similar things) i'm a fan of ephemeral stuff in the feed, but I'd also like to be the one in control of what kind of ephemeral stuff I see. It wasn't fun when the feed was all repeating frames.
