Everywhere I go, every organization I end up being part of, it feels like everyone keeps talking about a "vision for the future" but then we spend all our time debugging the present. 

Every grand plan gets derailed by some misconfigured setting. Endless small decisions that get in the way, and no one has any idea of how to deal with any of it apart from more talking and more bureaucracy in some Graeberish nightmare. 

I think we keep looking for systematic solutions to problems that are fundamentally about systems consuming themselves.
