thinking about a new type of event for communities: I propose an event, maybe with X funding from treasury if N number of verified members RSVP, then the event happens and appears on the community’s feed. If event happens, funding is granted. if i clearly mis-use funds, then people at the event report me. thought

Cool! You’d hope it wouldn’t happen but I immediately think what would stop people colluding to throw a fake event, grab funds and share without reporting anything? Also how would reporting work? Is there a threshold i.e. 51%+ ppl must report?

yea that’s the main issue… maybe funding isn’t tied to the rsvp threshold, and community leaders can decide which to fund. still tho we’d be creating the ability to ask for funds from the community in a native/seamless way

I know it’s overkill and cumbersome but some kind of penalties for cheating and some kind of reputation score could work in the game theory. But I suppose in a small trusted group it could work in the expected way

Ngl i kinda hate the idea of an actual reputation score a-la uber. I use uber despite that score, and it would cause me to use EC less if it existed. that said, i think you’re right about small groups. and there are potentially more subtle ways of solving it, like staking a small amount to RSVP, which you get back.
