If aliens exist they are definitely telepathic. I mean we're < 50 years from communicating with each other entirely through BCI. Not saying that there are aliens, or that they are secretly guiding me to build AGI or anything like that. Just saying that if there were aliens, they'd be communicating through dreams etc

The real question is why would such an advanced species even care about us? If they’re a Type II+ civilizations on the Kardashiev scale, we're probably less relevant to them than ant colonies are to us. To communicate with ants we don’t need telepathy we can just place a stick in the mud. Much more likely we’re either massively ahead or that we are so far behind that we will always be totally insignificant to more sophisticated beings if they exist.

I think this is the most interesting thing happening in our part of the galaxy right now If I were a type 2 I'd definitely want to see a sub type 1 get to type 1, or overcome the inevitable great filter limitations / crisis of single species dominance And the drama on our planet is unreal right now

“If I were a type 2 I'd definitely want to see a sub type 1 get to type 1” I think we’re self involved and very uninteresting from the pov of a type 2+ assuming life is abundant it’s fun watching bacteria but there’s a reason you’re not spending most of your conscious time focused on their progress

I don’t think we are *generally* interesting, but we are at a unique point in the evolution of life that only happens once every few billion years it seems, so there is probably something quite interesting about this place at this time that is indeed probably quite rare, in a way it wasn’t 100 years ago, and may not be 100 years from now
