Alzheimerās breakthrough! https://interestingengineering.com/health/enzyme-breakthrough-in-alzheimers Hereās an easier way to attempt to explain this article from ChatGPT: Some special helpers in the brain, called astrocytes, try to clean up this trash. But while cleaning, they accidentally make too much of a sleepy chemical called GABA. GABA tells the brain workers to slow down or stop, which isnāt good when you need to think or remember things. ļæ¼ Scientists have found that an enzyme named SIRT2 tells the astrocytes to make more GABA. So, if we can find a way to quiet down SIRT2, the astrocytes wonāt make too much GABA, and the brain workers can keep doing their jobs well. ļæ¼ This discovery is exciting because it gives us a new idea for helping people with Alzheimerās disease feel better by keeping their brain city clean and active.
