LOVE, DEATH & ROBOTS. The first three seasons are a true technical marvel, with plenty of highly inspired moments on the narrative side. What the hell happened with this newly released fourth season? The stories, when there are any, to put it mildly, are just pathetic. Not a single script should have made it to production. Technically, we've completely lost that "how the hell did they do that?" feeling. A handful of shorts still hold up in that regard, but even then, they don't stand out. Certainly not compared to the level of previous seasons. Surprisingly disappointing.

Man! True resonance!! I've watched it many times and cried the same way every single time. The realization of what it is about only comes in the end and everything suddenly makes sense. Not only the plot, life. It's a true masterpiece.

"I will immerse myself. And as I do, I will slowly shut down my higher brain functions... un-making myself... leaving just enough to appreciate my surroundings... to extract some simple pleasure from the execution of a task well done. My search for truth is finished at last. I'm going home." That feeling of home, I think that's our true search as humans, both within, and without. Artists are exploring and expressing their inner world in hopes it resonates with others, and feeling seen, I feel that is home

Gives me goosebumps every time! Whenever I have the chance, I show it to a friend. The search for meaning in life is humanity's fundamental question and I think they answer it pretty well, in only 10 minutes.

Since I didn't have it fresh in my mind, I watched it again yesterday. It's exactly what I meant with my little critique of the new season. The subtext of this short is overwhelming, without neglecting how much I love that animation style. As I see it, limiting it solely to what it means to be an artist imho, it carries a tremendous meaning. It's not about fame, money, or greatness, but the joy of doing what you truly love, what makes you happy despite any sacrifices you have to make.
