I think I have come to realize is that if you want to say something very controversial and be taken seriously, you need to be hot.

If you are not hot nor sexy, people will think you are annoying.

Being annoying is the kiss of death. If you become hot afterwards, you will be hot and annoying, but not controversial.

the special form of rhetoric required for modern social media success is worthy of study. the game really seems to be changing in a way that I think is not even touched in Aristotle's Rhetoric (I will go check and report back - interesting question)
