If I consider myself an artist, and approach my work as an artist, does it matter if the person experiences it sees it as a piece of art?

Is following the artists way sufficient, or do I need to design so that the audience knows they are experiencing ‘art’ / an artists work?

I make digital art that explores how we express ourselves together.

To me this wiggles near to the internal vs external motivations dance.

Art as soul’s expression/purpose creating clear signal vs moderating/adjusting that to real or perceived external factors (business, audience, income generating, etc)

As usual, I don’t think it’s just binary

But perhaps there is a line in there were you can do some of the latter, as long as it doesn’t impinge/reduce/limit upon the former

At which point you can get towards an art vs graphic design etc dialogue 😉
