many years ago, before having kids, i spent over a year in vietnam (hcmc) and recall thinking it crazy how most people zipped around on motorbikes, 50 to 150cc, in heavy traffic, with up to as many as 4-5 passengers (families across 2-3 generations!) onboard, mainly due to being more practical and cheap despite being clearly dangerous and so the karmic irony is not lost on me that i now regularly ride around /paris on an electric cargo bike, shuttling my kids to and from their various extracurricular activities amongst the many many bad drivers on the roads here...

woah woah woah the protected bike lanes of paris are WAY better than the streets of vietnam. and y'all wear helmets... right

not well protected imo, though in fairness the attempt to establish lanes exists 🤣 but certainly the overall traffic environment might be safer, but people seem to have the same bad habits on the road in spite of all that!
