I picked up a Baofeng handheld a year ago to listen in and still need to get licensed

It’s not too bad, honestly—the test for technician. Especially if you pay for the hamstudy app and or take a class. 

I took a class for technician and purchased the hamstudy app — I wouldn’t recommend paying for a class a lot of clubs offer classes for free and I know a handful of people that just downloaded the study app and passed the technicians license. 

Last year, when my club went to our winter pota (parks on the air) a cop stopped by to see what we were up to — asked a lot of questions and then this year he showed back up🤘🏼

— he had taken the technician class and only studied with the paid app and now he’s in our club and talking about getting his general license.
