I think nicotine withdrawal is a hoax. Nicotine is addictive, but I’ve never experienced negative symptoms from not feeding the craving.

I didn’t get too much of a withdrawal, tho I admit it’s (the addiction) much more complex.

Im addicted- I love it (especially after a really satisfying meal) The irritability, anxiousness, appetite change, restlessness, headaches, etc people report when they don’t have their fix- I’ve never experienced. I think I’d be considered a heavy user.

Withdrawal, if any, probably comes in different forms. Usually there’s a bit of a delayed onset anyway. Have you tried stopping for weeks completely? For me the trigger was stress (and sometimes drinking), so no withdrawal until I encounter the triggers.

It’s been 15+ years of use my longest break being 1 year. I’ve taken 2-3 month breaks a few times. No major symptoms of withdrawal ever- just cravings. Once you say yes after a break- the willingness to say no plummets. It’s not saying no to delay some negative effect, it’s a yes to the immediate pleasurable effect.

I have an addictive personality and found myself starting to chain smoke (with very little marginal utility, really) after a while. So cut it cold turkey and switched my obsession to other healthier things (tho an obsession is never really healthy innit).
