So question about Zohran, London, and Islam. A couple of primers: My colleague at work is a person who I owe a lot of my formative years to over the past decade. She’s from London. On the other hand, I have a few family members than converted to Islam I don’t know how many years ago (before I was born) but more so Nation of Islam… (Farrakhan) Now, my colleague has said that London is dealing with a lot of issues lead by Muslim leaders being in positions of power.. leading to more strict policies that are generally harmful to LGBTQ people, women, etc. Those leaders who campaigned on equality for all, but then governed on equality for all as long as you follow their interpretation of Islam. Which is more towards the oppressive areas in the Middle East. She’s told me that a lot of her friends in London are seeing instances where if you are Christian, LGBTQ+, a woman, whatever, times are not as good as they used to be. Now I see Zohran, who a lot of people on Farcaster (at least on my timeline) Stan fairly hardcore. He seems to be for well connected educated folks it seems who are diverse (aka what I said above) But considering what I hear on the daily, and what I was shown on the daily, I am conflicted. This is probably because I’m hearing what I stated above more often than what I’m hearing to the contrary. But I’m curious if there are opinions on both sides of the spectrum in regards to this. Are there folks in London that have seen instances where they are concerned about Zohran? Are they seeing the contrary? I don’t live in NYC. I don’t want to go to NYC, but it’s been interesting to watch all of this unfold. I don’t really have enough information on both sides to garner an opinion, but I figured this would be a good place to ask some questions. Lemme know!

Short answer: Your colleague is full of shit šŸ˜„ Joke aside... Long answer: Your colleague isn't looking at data. But also anecdotally, I lived in London before and after Sadiq Khan. Granted I don't live there anymore but still visit regularly. In most countries, larger cities tend to have more crime because of dense living. But London actually did better than UK since Khan came. London specifically is like a sanctuary because it's possibly the only multicultural city in the UK (unlike in US where most coastal cities are multicultural). Outside London, UK is actually very, very white & Christian. Racists hate that London is still thriving while being an international, multicultural city. I personally dislike Khan because he sold out Corbyn, and he's a liberal Zionist. But anti-muslim discrimination is the most spread discrimination in the West so just the fact that he's Muslim (not even a religious one) is enough to create these sorts of speculations.

I don’t think crime is her point though. I think it’s more how the city, the country, and and other western countries could potentially become governed. As I am generally confused about this stuff I presume I didn’t explain myself clearly. Crime is bad anywhere. London not exclusive. But more so of how people are treated because of particular ideologies. So, you living in London, you didn’t see points where there were attempts to enact ā€œsharia lawā€, or some form of extremist form of Islam? I use this term loosely because I’ve read in various places where what is considered the ā€œradicalizedā€ version of sharia law is not canon. I can’t find another way to say it give up and just say it. Idk. I forgot to mention another anecdote I worked with a Muslim woman. She was probably the most toxic human alive. I’ve also had some pretty iffy run ins with Muslim clients. It’s a coincidence that they are Muslim I would say, but it’s stuck in my head. Am I going to sit here and be like ā€œooo bad Muslims are badā€ Definitely not, because the age old takeaway here is that we’re all people first. Whether you’re Christian Muslim Jewish Buddhist or you practice some religion you just made up ten seconds ago. Also, the picture of Zohran and Alex Soros circulating adds to my intrigue of this whole thing. Thanks for giving me your thoughts as I try to wrap my head around this. lol.
