Another thing Western journalists and politicians don't know well about Iran is the internal Iranian politics. After Ahmedinejad, Iranian people had elected Rouhani, a progressive leader within Iranian politics. He was significantly improving Iran's image abroad, showing realities that the Westerns were lied about. This is when Obama & Rouhani had aligned and signed a fair nuclear deal with dozens of international observers. Iran abided by the deal. But then Trump tore up the deal, despite Iran's compliance and international observers' confirmation of compliance. Trump launched a crippling sanction on Iran. Iranian people suffered and progressives in Iran lost popularity. Moderate conservatives (in Iranian spectrum) regained power and Iran's image abroad went back to whatever NYT or The Atlantic told people. Trump was the one who destroyed the progressive movement in Iran, and he's now on the path to destroy the entire nation.
